We have our write ups for the Los Angeles Superior Court and Ballot
Measures at
http://www.governmentforthepeople.us/2008_General_Election.html
and we are sending out emails to get people to vote. We are
also sending out the Long Beach Taxpayers Association three page flyer
in
opposition of Measure G and I.

The Republican Party Convention had absolutely no energy. The
party could not even make a quorum of the general membership.
What this bodes in the future, I do not know.
Sep
13, 2008:
Wow, those three months went by quickly. I took a little break
to spend time with family. I also focused on catching up on
everything at work. We did not neglect preparing for the November
election, however. We upgrading our internet capability by a
factor of 4-5 times. We replaced three computers and upgraded
the best one remaining. All the computers are at least 6 times
faster than the previous ones. I tried to save time by buying my
computer, but in the end, I had to build my own to get the features
(speed) that I wanted. Amazingly, everything I bought ended up
being on sale including the two 1 Terabyte hard drives that I have in
parallel (Raid 0) for all the database work, I will not be running out
of space anytime soon.
We are also focusing on the Long
Beach Ballot Measures and are working with Nancy Ryan and Tom Stout of
the Long Beach Taxpayers Association. Some people have
mistakenly discounted the newly formed group, but I intend to help
them get going.June 7, 2008:
Thank you for your support over this last
year. Unfortunately, with 44.4% of the vote, we came up short.
Considering the obstacles that have been placed in our way, we
showed that a grassroots movement can show great strength. We have
been able to change the dynamic of local, county, and state
politics. Unfortunately, it takes longer than any of us would like.
We will continue working through Government for
the People, making judicial recommendations in the fall and working
on ballot measures, including protecting traditional marriage. Of
the 11 recommendations for Los Angeles Superior Court in the
primary, four won outright, four are in the runoffs in November, and
three lost; a fairly good win percentage We will be recommending
the four in the runoffs again for the general election and going
with our second choice in a fifth race. Beyond this fall, we have
not determined where we can best make a positive impact, but we will
pray for guidance and let you know when the time comes.
Immediately, we plan on spending more time with
family, the children have been troopers during these recent
campaigns. We will also take some time off to visit extended family
that we were unable to visit while campaigning. Michael will focus
on his job at Raytheon, which has paid the campaign bills and
provided valuable leadership experience, and he will also finish his
training to become a registered Parliamentarian. Elissa wants to go
back to school to work on her degree that was sidetracked with
children and politics. Of course, we will continue keeping abreast
of the political scene and with our activities in Cub Scouts, Girl
Scouts, Little League, dance, and PTA.
We
look forward to seeing you and please say hello if see us about
town.

Tuesday, June 3rd
– Republican Primary election
I met 5 of my neighbors at the polls this morning and only
Republicans were there when we voted. The Democrat machine
including the media, is
trying to say this is a "heavily" Democrat district, but it is not. It
is actually a fairly traditional American district and we will prove
it in November.
I have received a lot of support throughout the district and many
people are giving me calls to explain the ballot measures and get my
take on other candidates.
Yesterday when I was walking neighborhoods with my wife, we met
an independent voter that would have voted for me if the Republican
party had not closed their primary and she is going to try
to get her Democrat husband to vote for me in the general election.
In order to win, you have to have both experience and good
timing. All along my issues have stayed consistent and I have
gained experience in the last several elections. 2008, all the
issues that I have been working on and informing voters about are
coming to a head and I will be there to help Californians through
these problems.

June 2, 2008: Email
Tuesday, June 3rd
– Republican Primary elections
If you have already mailed in your absentee
ballot, thank you! I hope I have earned your vote.
If you have not yet mailed in your absentee
ballot or don’t vote absentee, please make sure you vote on Tuesday.
Your vote is critical. You will determine who will represent YOU,
not the political insiders, against the democrats in November. The
judicial races and the propositions are also critical.
This primary election is expected to be a low
turnout election. That means that every single vote will make
a difference! Let’s prove the political pundits wrong and have a
strong turnout.
On this last day before the election, we are
cautiously optimistic. Why are we cautiously optimistic? The
papers, after years of attempts to marginalize my candidacy, have
shifted their stances. The Press Telegram editorial (mistakenly
under the 55th district) described “Michael A.
Jackson, a Strong Candidate”.
Although the papers continue to describe the 54th
Assembly district as “overwhelmingly democratic” there is only a 11%
difference in voter registration between Republicans and democrats
(partially due to not removing people that move) and the Long Beach
area makes up almost 2/3 of the 54th Assembly district.
My primary opponent was a no show at the Long
Beach Beer and Politics Debate last Tuesday, canceling at the last
minute with no explanation. Past performance is an indication of
future performance.
I have worked throughout the county and our
district to inform voters, support republican candidates, promote
republican values and to bring Responsibility and Accountability. I
have established credibility through my work with ‘Government for
the People’.
I have maintained a dialogue with independent
voters, declined to states and conservative democrats in our
district. We talk policy not party and they are willing to listen.
This is how we can win in November.
I will work to return our government to serving
the citizens, instead of the citizens serving the government.
I will work so that the citizens of our
districts elect their representatives, not have their
representatives chosen for them.
I will work so that our children will have a
prosperous California to grow up in.
The Republican Party “Leadership” has lost
their way. They are continuing the money and deception strategy
instead of getting back to our basics principles and values.
During my campaign in 2006 I talked to the
Assembly Republican Caucus Leader and the Executive Director of the
Republican Caucus, they told me three things.
- Change my name
- Lose the beard
- Drop the Family Values.
If I was willing to sell out these three
things, I might have had the party support this time. If I
compromise on my basic principles, who would I be? -- Just another
politician.
Our political system is broken and we cannot
continue with business as usual. Only when regular citizens with
principles and common sense become involved will things get better.
My wife and I chose to keep my name, which is
also our son’s name. My wife says the beard stays. Dropping the
Family Values is an amazing sellout of Republican Principals by
people that should be championing them.
We have to stand up for what we believe in. If
we don’t, the Republican Party will go the way of the Wig Party that
would not take a stand against slavery. (The Republican Party was
formed as the anti-slavery party that stood on principals.)
Now, I
am asking for your vote and your support to help restore principals
and representative government. We can WIN the general
election in November. The choice is yours. The vote is yours.
May 27, 2008: Email
Thank you for wanting to be an informed voter.
I have just recently received three grassroots
endorsements for State Assembly.
Southern California
Republican Women and Men (http://www.scrwm.org/index.html)
Los Angeles
Republican Alliance (http://www.larepublicans.com/)
Craig Huey’s
Election Forum (http://www.electionforum.org/)
These are groups that stick to principals and
support candidates and elected officials that will do the same. I
also have supporters looking out for me.
“Mr Jackson,
Got a flyer from
the Jarvis group recommending Gabriella Holt. I called them and
asked why and they said because you can't win and again asked why
and they said because of your lack of money. So I sent you some and
also told them that [is] what they said about Tom McClintock and
look what we got, disaster.
Jim
McNally”
It is appreciated that more and more people
that have gotten to know me over the last five years and are
starting to take action. To be compared to Tom McClintock is an
honor. You will not hear it in the media, but in 2006, a bad year
for Republicans, Tom McClintock came within three percent of winning
this district for Lt. Governor.
On Sunday, when I was out in the district
checking on signs that we had put out, as a car drove by, a lady in
the passenger side rolled her window down and yelled “We are voting
for Michael A. Jackson for State Assembly”. I did not recognize the
lady, but responded with ‘Thank You’, these are the kind things that
make it easier to keep fighting the good fight.
Now I am asking for your help. We need to turn
out the vote on June 3rd. I am asking volunteers to drop
off door hangers to Republican households. The door hangers also
include our judicial recommendations from ‘Government for the
People’, which will help to elect the best judges available in the
Primary -- and it is a great way to meet your Republican neighbors
if you are so inclined. If you know of a high school student that
needs community service hours, they can assist and I can sign off
the hours for them. We will provide the lists and the door
hangers. If you prefer not to walk but would still like to help,
you can make phone calls to your neighbors instead, we will get you
a phone list. Just give us a call. This is our year to win.
Please
email us or give us a call at (562) 420-1795 if you would like to
help. Yard signs are also still available.
May 26, 2008 Memorial Day:
This day,
Memorial Day, has been set aside to remember all the Americans that
have fought and died to secure our freedom and our country. They
have enable America to become the shining beacon on the hill. It is
through their sacrifice for our freedom that we are able to enjoy
this day with our family and friends. I encourage you to not only
think of all the blessing that have been bequeathed to us, but also
think about what you can do to continue the freedom and prosperity
that current Americans have to following generations.
A Scottish
Historian, Alexander
Fraser Tytler (15th of October, 1747 - 5th January,
1813) is attributed with the following quotes.
"A democracy
cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist
until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess of
the public treasury. From that time on the majority always votes for
the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury,
with the results that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal
policy, always followed by a dictatorship."
“Great nations
rise and fall.
The people go
from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage,
from courage to
liberty,
from liberty to
abundance,
from abundance
to selfishness,
from selfishness
to complacency,
from complacency
to apathy,
from apathy to
dependence,
from dependence
back again to bondage.”
Maintaining the
America legacy would be the best Memorial that we could bestow on
the sacrifices of those that have made our country so great. I ask
you to help return us to the point of spiritual truth, courage, and
liberty or we will surely return to bondage and dictatorship.
On a personal
note, my family along with hundreds of Boy Scouts, some Girl Scouts,
and their families, placed flags on graves at the National Cemetery
at Westwood. It was amazing how quickly a task can be completed
when many hands work together.

Please enjoy the
day and think of the Memorial that is due those that have sacrificed
for us.
May 23, 2008: We
spent the last week sending out recommendations across Los Angeles
County for our Judicial Candidates Recommendations. It does
take time away from directly campaigning in the district, but if we
seed the Judiciary to activists, being in the legislature would be
pointless as the judges could overturn the will of the legislature,
just as they overturned the will of the people on Marriage last
week.
We also worked on answering
questionnaires this past week, the advantage of having a primary
opponent is that the media has to at least cover our campaign to
look fair, but some are already showing their bias for the general
election. It looks like we are currently ahead, but we need
our supporter to get to the polls and get their friends to vote as
well.
As we have been saying for years,
please ignore slate mailers. What are slate mailers?
They are usually post cards that are paid for by candidates and
propositions that try to pretend that they are representing some
altruistic group. In reality, they are just a business to fool
the voters for pay.
May 14, 2008: This
last week has been very hectic, but we have accomplished much.
The debate went well on May 5th and I even had a nice picture on the
front page of the Press-Telegram (PT). The PT has attempted to
ignore or marginalize my campaigns in the past, so it was a pleasant
surprise to have a picture and unbiased coverage. Hopefully
that will continue in the general election. Most of the people
in the audience were connected to politics in one form or another,
but I opened some eyes by relaying information that they would not
get from anyone else.
Our email system went down and I
had to go to a new system, it may actually work better than before,
time will tell.
Saturday May 10th I had a
wonderful time at the debate and presentation at the Second Samoan
Church in Long Beach. Picture to follow soon.
Our fantastic mailer is in route,
thank you Elissa, Chuck, Rick for an outstanding job.
Tuesday May 13th we had a meeting
at David Radford's house with some of his friends. I presented
the campaign, how we will win in November, and what I will be able
to do as an Assemblyman. We had a good question and answer
session.
Tonight is the Long Beach Area
Republican Party Red White and Blue BBQ.
May 5, 2008: We have
been working on our mailer and it is at the printer. Our
targeted mailing list is at the bulk mailer. As always we are
maximizing our efficiency, just as I will maximize the efficiency in
Sacramento with your help. The mailing will be going out this week
to targeted households. If you would like to walk your
neighborhood and meet some of your Republican neighbors, please
contact us at Info@VoteMJ.com.
We have people out already walking the their neighborhoods and this
will help in the primary and will be great in the general election
as well. Tonight is a debate at the Wrigley Association
Veterans Park, 101 East 28Th Street, Long Beach.
April 26, 2008: I was
a reviewer at the Long Beach Unified School District Science Fair.
My daughter was also a presenter, I did not review her school
obviously. It was interesting this year as we reviewed two
different schools. It showed the large disparity between the
school with American children and the school with immigrant
children. The one school did not even follow the rules about
requirements to be at the science fair, all students were supposed
to have reports and none did at the one school. The parents,
teachers, and principal were all supposed to verify that the
requirements were met.
April 22, 2008: We
are commencing Operation Greater Long Beach to get the Long Beach
Area Candidates elected to the Republican Central Committee and
State Assembly.
We are pleased
to Announce Operation Greater Long Beach. We need all of Long
Beach, Signal Hill, and Avalon Republicans to support their Long
Beach area candidates in June. Long Beach makes up 60.9% of the
registered voters in the 54th Assembly District and along
with Signal Hill and Avalon the percentage goes up to 63.7%.
Your Long Beach
Candidates (one from Signal Hill.) on June 3rd:
Republican
Central Committee:
ROBERT ACHERMAN
ELISSA M.
JACKSON
NANCY JEAN
SCIORTINO
DAVINA M. KEISER
KEVIN PATRICK
KUNKLE
Republican State
Assembly Candidate:
MICHAEL A.
JACKSON
Currently the
local Republican Party Central Committee has 4 out of the 11 members
from the Long Beach Area for a 36.3% representation, well under the
registered voter percentage of 63.7%. If all 6 of the above
candidates win in June, the Long Beach Area would be represented by
6 of the 11 members or 54.5%, much closer to the actual voting
percentage and a very slight majority.
Why is this
important, in recent years the membership has been skewed towards
Palos Verdes Peninsula (PVP) or like their residents like to say
“The Hill”. This has resulted in not enough attention being paid to
Long Beach, resulting in having only one city council member being
registered a Republican in Long Beach and none in Signal Hill. With
the team of Long, Sciortino, Jackson, Jackson, and supporters we did
get close to electing Nancy Long in 2007. We won on election night,
but after some questionable provisional ballots and absentee ballots
turned in at the poles, we came up short by just one vote.
One vote does count.
Also, in 2006 I won almost every precinct in PVP and had a
respectable 39.2% of the vote against an incumbent with being
outspent 10 to 1. To put that in perspective, the 2000 Republican
Nominee from the Peninsula area spent 1 Million Dollars and his
percentage was 38.8%. Currently PVP has 6 of 11 representation or
54.5% on the Republican Party Central Committee, which is quite an
overrepresentation for PVP which makes up only 18.8% of the
registration.March 18, 2008: We
have had another productive week. Congressman Duncan Hunter
endorsed me for State Assembly. Our email announcing the Duncan Hunter
was well received.
March 17, 2008: Our
advertisement at www.LBReport.com
has commenced. This is one of a very few sources of real
reporting remaining in Long Beach. I encourage you to get your
Long Beach news from this outlet to find out the truth behind the
scenes.
March 15, 2008: We
had another good precinct walk. People that we met are saying
that they will talk to all their friends and neighbors. The
opposition research is already paying off dividends and should
ensure our victory in June.
March 13, 2008:
Belmont Shore Residents Association meeting. Listened to
School Board candidates and met some of the residents.
March 9, 2008: Week
in review: I turned in the candidate statement, did opposition
research, database work, collected signatures for two central
committee candidates, and met with another group of supporters.
Our email in response to the negative attacks by our opposition's
team that were printed in the Press-Telegram caused them great
consternation, to see our email click here,
Press
Telegram Response
March 2, 2008: Our
precinct yesterday was very productive and we gained lots of
support. This was followed by a wonderful time at my Birthday
BBQ and Campaign Kickoff. We met Kevin Kunkle of Long Beach,
Central Committee Candidate, and his compatriot Rick Berry (Jazz
Musician), thank you both for your support. We even received
an endorsement from a local Democrat that liked my family and that
we were so optimistic at being able to fix things in Sacramento and
that we are so involved in the community. I almost talked her
into re-registering, she said that she would think about it.
It is exiting to see the desperation from my primary opponents camp
in Palos Verdes Peninsula, they were the first to go negative in the
press. We will be running hard to ensure a
victory in both June and November.
February 28, 2008:
The lobbyists and consultants that are working for my opponent in
the primary are trying to get people to pull endorsements or to dual
endorse as soon as they are posted on my website. This shows
their weakness and lack of ethics. They are
also sending out misleading press releases. The question is,
will the Republican voters be fooled. We will find out on June
3rd.
February 26, 2008:
I am the only Republican candidate to have completed the paperwork
for running for State Assembly. A possible opponent's
operatives are trying to get my supporters to drop their support.
I am amazed by the depth of the corruption, but we are persevering
to restore representation to the people, even within the Republican
Party.
December 31, 2007:
Happy New Year to All
This year was almost as
challenging for us as 2006. We took time to recover from the
campaign for State Assembly in 2006. We made a solid attempt
to fix the Republican Party Central Committee and will be working on
this again in 2008. In order to work this task, I purchased a
copy of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised, studied, and took a
test to become a member of the National Association of
Parliamentarians.
Michael, my son, played baseball
for the first time, so my Wife and I spent a lot of time working
with him. He had a good time and improved on almost
everything, except that he regressed on his batting. He will
be playing again in 2008.
In March, we helped Nancy Long win
the race for Signal Hill City Council on election night, only to see
her be defeated by some questionable absentee and provisional
ballots a few days latter.
We worked on recalling Judge Lee
in Long Beach, but almost everything needs to align perfectly to
make something on this scale occur. When the stars appeared to
not be aligned, we dropped the effort and are relying on Judge Lee
to retire as he indicated that he would.
In the middle of the previous
effort, Congresswoman Millender-McDonald died. I was asked to
run by quite a few folks, but I am not interested in going to
Washington to attempt to fix the problems there. My focus was
and is to get elected to the State Assembly to fix the problems in
Sacramento which will have a larger impact than going across the
country in helping California and the Citizens of the 54th Assembly
District. Instead, I worked with and for the Republican
Nominee.
The rest of the year was tied up
with working extra hours at work to cover multiple projects.
This took time, but after the expensive campaign, we were able to
pay down most of the bills. We also started working on plans
for 2008.
November 16, 2007:
I had the privilege of being Principal for a Day at Mark Twain
Elementary School. Below is my thank you note:
"Dear Twain Students and Teachers,
I was honored to accompany
Principal Ryan as your ‘Principal for a Day’. You have a
fantastic school. I enjoyed meeting students, learning about
your school and hearing how much everyone is learning and enjoys
their school. As a veteran, I really appreciate the work that
you did to honor the veterans at your school. Some of your
classmates sang the U.S. Navy’s song “Anchors Away” for us when
we met in Principal Ryan’s Office; I am a Navy Veteran (82-91).
Keep up the good work by supporting your Green Team; we need to
all be good stewards of our resources.
I would like to thank Principal
Ryan for hosting me for the day. You are all very lucky to have
such a wonderful and outgoing Principal. Again, thank you all,
keep up all the good work that you are doing and have a Happy
Thanksgiving. If you want to contact me, my number is (562)
310-5197.
In service to California,
Michael A. Jackson
State Assembly District 54
Candidate
President of Government for the
People
October 14th, 2007: Since
November 2006, we have been working behind the scenes to work to
rebuild the Republican Party in the 54th Assembly District and the
neighboring areas. I even joined the National Association of
Parliamentarians (you actually have to take a test to join) in order
to correct many deficiencies in the Los Angeles County Republican
Party. I learned the utmost necessity of following By-Laws and
Parliamentary Procedures and the corruption and general decline that
results if an organization refuses to adhere to them. I
believe that this learning experience was was a very beneficial,
although frustrating exercise. Now, my team and I will focus
on winning the Assembly Race to help restore California Government
to the People.
