Our country is a country built of immigrants. Our first immigrants came from Asia. Later we saw immigrants from England and Europe, then Asia again and the Pacific, the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, and more recently the Middle East, Mexico and South and Central America. Immigrants have helped build our industries and economy. We were called the “melting pot” of the world. This is important, because, our vast wealth of immigrants assimilated into our culture! They became Americans! Immigrants have worked hard, learned to speak English; studied American history and how our republic works! They have integrated into our society and enriched our varied culture.

Illegal Immigration
The more recent influx of illegal immigrants start off by thumbing their nose at our laws. In return, we reward them by paying for their education, healthcare and subsidizing their housing! Many jobs now require workers to be bilingual! Businesses, government agencies and social programs are required to provide all information in their language and provide interpreters at a cost of millions! Where does all the money come from to provide these special services? Either from the taxpayer or the consumer! No other country in the world provides these services to legal immigrants! At no other time in our history have we allowed such blatant disregard for our laws and the cheapening of our citizenship. Citizenship is a privilege, not a right!

Illegal Immigration Benefits Mexico's Elite, NOT the Mexican People
According to Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO), Mexican officials say that they have to export their working age population because the unemployment level is 40%. This level of unemployment creates an unstable condition which puts pressure on the Mexican government to change the way they operate or risk a revolution. Answer: export population to the U.S., problem solved.

Mexico receives an estimated $20 Billion from Mexicans that they have exported to the United States. This is their largest source of income. Larger than the $16 Billion in oil exports. That is $20 Billion in the hands of a corrupt Mexican government.

Criminals and gangs are also benefiting by victimizing and exploiting immigrants through drug trafficking and human trafficking, including sexual enslavement and indentured servitude.

Mexican officials, including President Felipe Calderon are demanding better treatment of Mexican Citizens in the United States, rather than fixing their own country and keeping their citizens in Mexico.

Jobs Americans Won’t Do
Some politicians and businesses have a vested interest in supporting illegal immigrants -- subsidize labor (cheap labor)! They would have you believe that illegal immigrants are only taking jobs that no one else is willing to do – at suppressed wages! On the contrary, as more illegal immigrants enter California, they are taking more and more jobs from tax paying citizens.

I believe that both U.S. citizen and legal immigrants are willing to take jobs as construction workers, manufacturing workers, gardeners, restaurant workers, house painters, mechanics, household maintenance, and Nannies, especially at reasonable wages! These are just a few of the jobs which are increasingly being taking over by illegal immigrants. We have witnessed citizens doing these jobs in other states.

Minorities and the Low Income are the Victims of Illegal Immigration
Not so amazing is the fact that the people most hurt by illegal immigration are the legal immigrants and the working poor. The legal immigrants and the working poor have to compete directly with illegal aliens who will work for less money, and who do not pay income taxes. This competition with illegal aliens either takes jobs away from U.S. citizens and legal residents, or floods the job market, keeping their salaries so low that they cannot hope to get above the poverty line. Also, the illegal criminal element, tend to prey on people in minority communities, which makes a bad situation worse.

“U.S. Constitution: Article IV
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.”

The Federal Government has failed to protect its citizens against the invasion of 3 million illegal aliens per year. The gangs, such as MS-13, and the Mexican Mafia are committing violent and criminal acts and we are left unprotected by law breaking cities such as Los Angeles and Long Beach with their so-called sanctuary policies.

The Cost
Employers tend to hire illegal workers on a cash basis, which is estimated at removing a tax source of $7 billion a year. An estimated additional $20 billion, just to Mexico, is sent back to their native country by illegal aliens. Add to that $25 billion out of the California and U.S. economy, the cost of un-reimbursed emergency room and medical costs and, a huge loss to the workers comp system from fraudulent claims by illegal aliens. Lastly, our already overcrowded schools have to educate all the children of illegal aliens to the tune of $11.6 billion, which removes services from legal residents. Where does this number come from? The 2004-05 State School Budget is $46.2 Billion, as reported by Daniel Weintraub of the Sacramento Bee.

When I was Principal for a Day in Long Beach, the State Superintendent of Schools stated that 25% of the students statewide are English Language Learners (40% in LAUSD according to former Superintendent Roy Romer). Most, but not all, of the English Language Learners are illegal immigrants or the children of illegal immigrants. This results in the children of U.S. Citizens being shortchanged by approximately $11.6 Billion. Say goodbye to counselors, nurses, field trips, music education, P.E., and art; U.S. Citizens can no longer expect their children to have the things that they had in school. If you are fortunate, you have a PTA that spends all year to raise the funds to pay for the things that the school budget used to provide. But, like the lottery, the more money that comes from the PTA, the more money the politicians and state school system takes from your local school.

Your Home
An analogy of what is happening is: You are a family with two children in a three bedroom house, then you come home one day and someone has moved into one of your children’s rooms and stays! You are expected to feed them, provide housing and medical care and pay for the educational expenses for their children. You receive no additional financial help and must cut back on what you can provide for your own family. We cannot afford to continue being a welfare state for other Countries.

Proposition 187
Passed by 60 percent of the voters, Proposition 187 would have prevented the State (the taxpayers) from paying benefits (all non-emergency services) to illegal aliens, saving taxpayers billions of dollars. Governor Gray Davis passed an executive order authorizing its elimination.

Overcrowded Emergency Rooms – First Hand Experience
I have experienced the repercussions of overcrowding and long waits first hand. Twice, we waited over three hours. My son, being only three years old, had a higher chance of additional injury or illness if we continued to wait, than of being treated. I seeded the emergency room to the likely illegal immigrants and reluctantly went home. We continued to treat him at home and took him to his regular doctor the next day. Fortunately, everything turned out okay. This is one of the reasons I decided to run for office, to protect my children, our friend’s children, and all the American children. Our government is not enforcing our laws and it is hurting American families.

A History Lesson
Sun Tzu, in “The Art of War”, says that an enemy will change tactics and exploit weaknesses. Defenses have to change and adapt.

The Mexican government incurred a war debt to the United States, during the Mexican revolution from Spain. The United States Congress declared war on Mexico on May 13th of 1846 as a result of border disputes, an across the border attack, and the Mexican government failing to pay their war debt.

The war was started due to conflicts over the control of portions of Texas. Mexico did not have enough people that wanted to move to Texas so they recruited Americans to do the work that Mexicans would not do. When Mexico stopped the legal immigration, they were unable to stop the Americans from coming. Eventually Texans, combined with Mexican Tejanos, took possession of Texas. Texas was later annexed by the United States.

Mexico lost the war, and as part of the peace treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo (1848), the U.S. purchased the American Southwest at a time when there were few Mexicans in this territory

California, U.S.A. NOT California, Mexico
the current United States President and the United States Congress do not want to protect the borders, the States, or the American Citizens.

We need to:
Deny benefits not mandated by the Federal Government to illegal immigrants. Take actions similar to Arizona’s Proposition 200 which passed with 40% of the Hispanic population vote.

Remove illegal aliens from the voter roles. Link voter registration roles. As many as eight of the 9/11 terrorists were registered to vote.

Verify immigration status of all criminals and turn over illegal alien convicts to ICE upon their release.

Local Law Enforcement should pick up known illegal alien gang members and hand them over to the ICE. Waiting until they commit another crime and catching them doing it is detrimental to our society.

Force cities, such as Los Angeles and Long Beach, to stop violating Federal Law by having sanctuary policies. Special Order 40 (Los Angeles) prevents law enforcement officers from picking up known gang members that are illegal aliens, until they victimize someone else.  Long Beach police officers Wade and Yap were shot by a known criminal illegal alien that had previously been deported.

Work with Mexico to get Cop-Killers and other violent felons extradited to California.

Pass a law to revoke California Contractors Licenses when they are caught breaking the law by hiring illegal aliens. If they do not have a California Contractors License, then the law should include confiscating the items involved in the business, such as trucks, tools, and machines. Companies hire illegal aliens for the cheap labor, we need to make it so that it is in the employer’s financial interest to hire U.S. Citizens.

Pass a California law that employers cannot retain an employee that has been given a Tax Identification Number (TIN). TINs are issued when the Social Security Number provided by the employee is not valid, a good indicator that the applicant is here illegally.

Ship illegals back to their native country and tell them to take care of their citizens. Rather than having someone, like El Presidente Felipe Calderon of Mexico, say that the U.S. should treat their citizens better.  Also he illuminated his position by saying "where there is a Mexican, there is Mexico".

Pass a California Border Police Initiative. Since the Federal Government will not do its constitutionally mandated job to protect the borders, California needs to team up with Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas and do it ourselves. If we wait for others, it will never happen.
